Mr. LeGrand — your pointing out of potential improvements needed within the Sullivan’s Island Fire Department was likely appreciated by many island residents. Doing so under a pen name was, at the time, relatively harmless.
However, you have moved on to personal attacks against the mayor, the fire chief and the town administrator. By doing so, you have lost the high ground and, more importantly, the right to hide behind a pen name. If you attack individuals personally, you are obligated to come out from behind the curtain and allow them the right to confront their accuser. Do so — now.
The drip, drip, drip of your accusations no doubt has political motivation. Your initial claims seemed apolitical. Coupled with your cohort on Substack, you have moved into attacking representatives of our town who have served for decades with honor and integrity. Certainly in the case of the mayor, that service has come at tremendous personal sacrifice and without compensation.
Mr. LeGrand, show some integrity of your own and step forward.
As for our new council members: You campaigned on bringing transparency to town government. Well, here is your opportunity to call out William LeGrand and insist that he come forward and be transparent, or state clearly that you will not accept anonymous accusations as factual or worthy of support for further action.
Or perhaps you, and those supporting you, are only in favor of transparency when it suits your political objectives?
