Some residents of Sullivan’s Island apparently want more information about whether the town’s Fire Department took appropriate action during a house fire earlier this year. Charleston Fire Chief Daniel Curia and one of his associates were on the island April 20 to look into the situation.
Curia was asked by Sullivan’s Island officials to conduct an independent inquiry into the town Fire Department’s response to a Feb. 7 fire at 1620 Middle St.
The town has received an initial oral report from the chief, and additional discussion is expected to take place at the Town Council meeting April 21.
“I really appreciate the assistance that Chief Curia has provided to us in this expert and objective assessment of the event at Middle Street,” said Sullivan’s Island Mayor Pat O’Neil. “I am fully in support of Chief (Anthony) Stith and all of his department and am gratified by his openness to an outside review.”
