On Election Day, more than 3,100 votes were cast in the Isle of Palms City Council race, but none of the three candidates secured a majority on Nov. 5, leading to a runoff.
The top two vote-getters, Rusty Streetman and Susan Hill Smith, will appear on the ballot again on Nov. 19. Streetman received 1,270 votes, while Smith collected 1,164. Josh Hooser received 670 votes, or 21.4%.
Streetman, who previously served on the council from 2020 to 2023, tallied 1,270 votes (40.7%), while Smith, who served on the council from 2018 to 2021, earned 1,164 votes (37.3%). Attorney Josh Hooser finished third with 670 votes (21.4%).
Polls for the runoff election will be open on Nov. 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following polling places:
Isle of Palms 1A - Isle of Palms City Hall, 1207 Palm Blvd.
Isle of Palms 1B and 1C - Isle of Palms Recreation Center, 24 28th Ave.
Early voting will be held from Nov. 13-15, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections Headquarters, located at 4340 Corporate Road in North Charleston.
The council seat became available following the resignation of former City Councilwoman Elizabeth Campse in August.
