Isle of Palms Mayor Phillip Pounds, right, presented Joe Washington with a plaque at the IOP Council’s Jan. 24 meeting commemorating Washington’s 42 years as a city employee. A Mount Pleasant native, he started his career with the IOP Public Works Department on Sept. 18,1980. Washington is now looking forward to fishing three days a week and traveling. Looking on were Council Members Blair Hahn and Katie Miars.
